Kailash Yatra via Simikot is a prime route linked to far western region of Nepal. Simikot Kailash Tour trail follows gradual climb up passing through areas of mixed cultural inhabitants. Along the hiking around lower elevation area you have lush green wish landscapes sceneries and around upper valley semi-tibetan type of vegetation zone. Flight to Simikot or fly back from Simikot is more depended on weather condition. Hence, it is advisable to use only one way flight. After Kailash Parikrama we have included Tingri (Everest Base Camp) and than driving to Nyalam, Zhyangmu and Kathmandu.

DETAILED ITINERARY

Kailash Yatra via Simikot & Everest Base Camp

Day 01 ARRIVE KATHMANDU (1300m)

Welcome of Kailash Yatri at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu and drive to hotel.Briefing of Kailash yatra details will be given in Hotel and you will be meeting our Sherpa team.Rest of the day free and overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 02 KATHMANDU

Morning half day city tour of Kathmandu. Visit Pashupati Nath Temple and Boudhnath.Lunch in Hotel. Rest of the day free for Yatra Preparation i.e. checking and demonstration of equipments to be used during yatra. Our Sherpa staff will assist you to buy OR hire necessary items for yatra.

Day 03 KATHMANDU/NEPALGANJ

Morning transfer to airport to connect flight for Nepalganj.
Dep: Kathmandu/Nepalganj By Air (approx. 90 minutes flight)
Assistance and transfer to hotel. Free time and overnight in Nepalganj.

Day 04 NEPALGANJ/SIMIKOT (2960m)/DHARA POKHARI (2300m)

Morning transfer to airport to connect flight for Simikot.
Dep: Nepalganj/Simikot By Air (approx 50 minutes flight)
Assistance at the Simikot airport and meet our crew. Start climbing up from the air strip on a rocky trail past fields of barley and wheat. We ascend a forested ridge above the town of Simikot, before making a long steep descent past Dandaphoya. The trail is then fairly level, through walnut and apricot trees, until we come to the scattered village of Dhara Pokhari, which is divided by the Yakba Kola.

Day 05 DHARA POKHARI/SALLI KHOLA (2700m)

Today continue trek to Salli Khola. We cross a long scree slope and follow the river to a waterfall near the shepherds. Camp at Chachera. We than climb over a ridge and bypass the village of khermi before entering a big velley with walled fields of potato and buckwheat. After walking through a sparse pine forest we descend from the ridge to the Salli Khola and camp by the river.

Day 06 SALLI KHOLA/MUCHU (2920m)

Continue trek to Muchu, we cross the river and climb over a rocky ridge before descending to the grey waters of the Humla Karnali. After crossing another ridge we come to a sandy meadow where goat herders often camp by the river. Beyond the meadow the valley narrows and we cross several more ridges, passing the villages of Yalbang and Yangar. The train then winds its way precariously above the river before we cross a suspension bridge to the village of Machu.

Day 07 MACHU � REST DAY

Today is a rest day which we'll spend in and around Muchu. Explore around the village with its stone houses and gompa.

Day 08 MACHU/SIPSIP (4330m)

Continue trek to Sipsip, we follow the train over a ridge to the Tumkot Khola and then walk along the rocky stream bed for a short distance before beginning a steep climb through a rock-filled gully. We pass through Palbang and its bright yellow mustard fields to the small settlement of Yari and beyond here the route climbs up the valley towards a pass, the Nara Lagna. We camp below the pass in a meadow known as Sipsip.

Day 09 SIPSIP/HILSA (3720m)

Continue trek to Hilsa, we ascend steeply to a rock cairn marking the top of the Nara Lagna (4580m). Descending from the pass, we view he Tibetan Plateau before arriving at the village of Ranipauwa. Beyond here, we slip and slide on a surface of loose pebbles down to the Humla Karnali.

Day 10 HILSA/TAKLAKOT (3930m)

Continue trek to Taklakot, shortly after crossing the Nepal/Tibet border, which is marked only by a stone pillar, we meet our transport and drive via Khojar Nath (Temple of Ram, Sita & Laxman). Takla Kot is the large trading centre of west Nepal Tibet border.

Day 11 TAKLAKOT � Rest Day

Rest day for acclimatize or explore around and enjoy local cultural activities.

Day 12 TAKLAKOT/MANSAROVAR (4558m/14950 ft)

Today drive to Mansarovar - the highest lake of fresh water with turquoise complexion in the world, is full of fishes and swans. Holy Kailash Parbat, Mt Gurula-Mandala, Lake Rashekshi are lying on its surrounding. Night around Holy Mansarovar at Chu Gumba.

Day 13 MANSAROVAR/TARCHEN (14975 ft) (40 km)

Take a Holy dip in Mansarovar Lake and perform puja on the bank of Mansarovar. Later drive to Tarchen. It is the base camp for the Holy Kailash Parikrama.

Day 14 TARCHEN/DEHARA PUK (5000m)

After breakfast drive to Tarboche - starting point of Kailash Parikrama. Tarboche is also known as outer "Asthapath". It is one of the exciting days walking along the beautiful rocky cliffs; water falls with some clouds in the clear blue sky make you feeling that Great God Shiva is every where with tons of blessing to you. Time to time the face of Kailash Parbat will be keep on appearing. For 15 km trail it takes almost 7 hrs.

Day 15 Dirapuk � Zuthulpuk (4760 mtr)

Today you will be climbing to Drolma-la (Dolma-La 18600 ft) and than descending gradually to Zuthulpuk (4760m). Yamasthal should be crossed to reach the Shiva-sthal while your steps go closer to the pass. Today is the most difficult day of the trek. Once you reach the top, just do the holiest offering and sit down for meditation to forget yourself. Once your steps go down, Parvati-stal and Gauri Kunda are on the way. By late afternoon you will arrive Zuthulpuk (the cave of Miracles, the great ascetic Milerappa is supposed to have preformed miracles here).

Day 16 Zuthulpuk/Tarchen (Darchen)/Mansarovar (end of Kailash Parikrama)

Morning free time to explore the caves, temples and shrine around Milarepa cave. After walking 3 hours, all the driving crew will be waiting your arrival. By late afternoon you will be at your lodge/camp near Mansarovar Lake.

Day 17

Drive to Saga (500 km) 7-8 hrs, check in at hotel, rest and overnight.

Day 18

Drive to Tingri 6-7 hr, check in at hotel, rest and overnight.

Day 19

Drive to Rongbok, check in at hotel, rest and overnight.

Day 20

Drive to Nylam or Zang Mu: (296km) 6-7 hrs, check in at hotel, rest and overnight.

Day 21

Drive back to Kathmandu (163 km) 9-10 hrs, check in at hotel, rest and overnight.

Day 22

Transfer to airport for your onward flight.
